Recipe Box

On Sunday we would gather at great grandma's house to have a family dinner. There were aunt's, uncles, and cousins sitting around the table. Some of us propped up on phone books so that we could reach. We'd talk, eat, and mix our corn in with our mashed potatoes. But most of all we laughed. Monkey-Cake

1 box of yellow or butter pecan cake mix
2 bananas
1/4 cup chocolate chips
1/4 cup walnuts (optional)
1/2 cup peanut butter
1 container chocolate sprinkles
1-2 containers chocolate frosting
2 eight-inch round cake pans

Set oven, and prepare cake pans as per box instructions.
Prepare cake batter as per box instructions.

Before adding batter to cake pans:
slice 1 banana into thin pieces. Add to cake batter, stirring in slowly.
fold chocolate chips and walnuts into cake batter.

Bake as per box instructions until an inserted knife comes out clean.

Once the cakes are completely cooled, frost one of the cakes with a layer of peanut butter.

Place the unfrosted cake on top and frost the entire cake with chocolate frosting. (I use 1.5 containers of frosting for extra thick layers of gooey goodness)

Slice the second banana and arrange in a smiley face on top of the cake.

Lastly, sprinkle with chocolate sprinkles.
